Alabama Crimson Tide Sophomore defensive back Brian Branch has made the biggest play of the 2022 National Championship game so far.
With Nick Saban’s side trailing 12-13 to the Georgia Bulldogs inside the final 11 minutes of the game, Branch recovered a fumble inside the redzone, keeping his foot inbounds by just a fraction.
The best part of the play? Branch appears to think it’s an incomplete pass.
Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett is being spun down by Junior linebacker Christian Harris as he attempts to throw the ball away on 3rd down. The ball bounces once in bounds before it was caught on the volley by Branch.
The referees initially ruled it a fumble recovered by Alabama. After a long replay review the ruling on the field was confirmed.
Momentum had been starting to swing in Georgia’s favour, with a touchdown that gave them a 13-9 lead before Alabama could only respond with a field goal. Now with the ball at the opposition’s 15-yard line.
